Carlos and Debbie have been together for 4 1/2 years and engaged for almost one year.
How did you meet? We met online at a site called Tagged.com. Both of us just ended a bad relationship and decided that with the next one, we would just be friends and take it slow.
Tell me a little bit about your partner and what made you decide that they were a keeper? When he had the flu for a week, I went to his house every night to keep him company and take care of him. Well, one night I left his place close to midnight and on the way home, I was in a car accident. He was the first one I called. He rushed to my side and took me home. The next day when he came over, he took me to the police station. He put aside his sickness to drive me to DC to pick up my mom at the train station. He also also gave me a card that made me cry.
Were there any obstacles/hurdles in the way of your relationship and if so, how did you overcome them? There was one but we knew our love was too strong to just let go. We never speak of it in words, but there are times he sees it in my eyes, thinking that I almost lost him. It's then he holds me close and tells me that no one could ever come between us. God brought us together and He has a plan for us.
What are your future goals for you and your partner? We already have the home we've wanted. A lot of sweat and tears went into it and we wouldn't trade all the money in the world for it. Together we are going to make our film company a success. Why? Because together we can do anything.
What do you think it takes to make a relationship work? Communication about everything. Your partner needs to be your best friend. Someone you cannot live without. Someone who is the air you breathe. The reason you wake in the morning. Carlos and I have been together for over 4 years and I still get excited when he comes home. To see his smiling face. I always run to greet him with a kiss. We talk, laugh, cry together. To have someone who supports you in anything you do. No matter how trivial it might be to you, if it means the world to the other then you will be there to help make that goal a success.
